I wish to go to Atlantis to see marine life

Zacharie, 10, has a form of muscular dystrophy that requires he use a wheelchair and be provided with assistance throughout his daily routine. Charismatic and upbeat, he can light up a room with his smile and loves race cars, trucks, math and rap music.

When Make-A-Wish / Fais-Un-Voeu Québec asked Zacharie for his greatest wish, he made it clear that he wanted to go to Atlantis to see marine animals. This fit perfectly with the drawing that he had submitted of a shark and sea turtle.

Zacharie and his family were soon on their way to Nassau in the Bahamas. At the airport, they had the pleasure of meeting Samuel, a 17-year-old boy with the same illness as Zacharie who also happened to be heading to the same destination with his family.

During his stay in the Bahamas, Zacharie saw all of the animals he had been hoping to see (with the exception of crocodiles). His favourites were the sharks and sea turtles. “They zipped around in the water and showed their bellies when swimming past the aquarium window,” exclaimed Zacharie.

He also enjoyed getting to see colourful fish, discovering birds he had never heard of before and going for dips in the pool. “It was an amazing and incredibly emotional week. Simply wonderful,” said Zacharie's dad. Zacharie and his family returned home with not only unforgettable memories but also a new friendship.
