I wish to go by the sea in Guadeloupe

Alissia-Rose lives with a blood disorder that often causes stomach pain, fatigue and prevents her from completing certain physical activities. She loves music, nautical activities and despite her medical condition, she remains positive and cheerful.

For her wish, Alissia-Rose wished to go to Gaudeloupe to see the sea, white sand and learn more about the culture. For her first ever flight last July, she flew to Pointe-à-Pitre with her brother and parents. She was delighted to be surrounded by clouds! The family stayed in an Airbnb type apartment where the owners greeted them with chicken, rice, cocktails and a gift basket filled with local products. After giving them advice on places to visit and restaurants to discover, they left them with the apartment for the week.

The first supper on Guadeloupean soil was a significant moment of the trip. The restaurant was right by the sea, and the family could hear and see the waves hit the rocks while dining. Alissia-Rose was very impressed! The days that followed were packed: swimming, canoeing, kayaking, Jet Skiing, visiting the Zoo, the Memorial ACTe Museum and the Spice Market, going a cruise and visiting Petite Terre Island, savouring local cuisine and much more. Alissia-Rose and her family’s week was filled with wonder and discoveries.

All week long, Alissia-Rose didn’t feel any pain and she had a good level of energy. Upon her return, her mother told us: « The trip did her good and relaxed her. It also enabled her to see how people lived elsewhere. She was impressed by the kindness of the Guadeloupeans, the beauty of the sea, the beach and vegetation.”

An immense thank you to our partners Airbnb, Avis, Sony Canada Charitable Foundation and all those who have contributed to transform Alissia-Rose’s wish into reality.
