I wish to meet Carey Price

Tommy, 10, has Duchenne muscular dystrophy. He uses a wheelchair, which prevents him from taking part in certain activities with his friends.

Tommy loves music, action movies and video games. He is also an avid hockey fan and loves the Montreal Canadiens; he watches all of his favourite team’s games with his dad.

When Make-A-Wish / Fais-Un-Voeu Québec asked Tommy for his greatest wish, he answered with zero hesitation: "I wish to meet Carey Price!"

The meeting took place at the Bell Sports Complex, where Tommy had the opportunity to get out all of his questions for Carey. With the help of Stéphane Waite, the Habs’ goalie coach, he also got to shoot a few pucks on the star netminder, even managing to score twice! Tommy and his family then attended the Canadiens’ team practice where they had the chance to see all of the players in action.

"Carey Price is my idol and the best goalie in the world. He makes spectacular saves and is always in control," Tommy enthused. "I wanted to meet him so he knew he was my favourite player."

Tommy’s mother was visibly emotional when her son came off the ice. "Tommy’s condition deprives him of a lot of things. He can’t play sports with his friends and he needs help getting dressed, going to the washroom and taking showers. It's not easy for a child," she explained. "To see him experience a special day like this is really wonderful for us!"

In addition to meeting Carey Price, Tommy and his family were invited to take in a game from the suite reserved for the Montreal Canadiens Children's Foundation.

A huge thank you to the Montreal Canadiens Children's Foundation and the Montreal Canadiens Hockey Club for their help in fulfilling this wish. There is no doubt Tommy will remember this day for the rest of his life!
