I wish to see marine life and the sea in Atlantis

Like her mother, Juliette is affected by a hereditary autoimmune disease that brings its share of unpredictable crises and causes respiratory issues and extreme fatigue. Juliette has an artist's soul and loves to create and design.  She's also passionate about animals. It isn't surprising that for her wish, she wanted to see animals as well as the sea.

Last May, Juliette and her family flew to Atlantis on a WestJet flight. Before taking off, she had the chance to meet the pilot and the first officer in the cockpit. When they arrived to Atlantis, the family received a private welcome. They were eager to leave their luggage in their room and go out to explore. Her mother wrote to us: "The word magnificent falls short to describe what we saw! An enormous aquarium, a sanctuary for sea animals, many hikes, a beach that takes your breath away..."

Throughout their trip, the family enjoyed many of the activities offered on site. They visited different lagoons at the marine sanctuary where they saw stingrays, sharks, sawfish, hammerhead sharks, and over 100 species of fish. They also went to the dolphin marine habitat, where they spent 45 minutes in the water with Tamara, a 36-year-old female dolphin. They also got to freedive a few times. On one of these escapades they even saw a 5-foot long barracuda!

As the animal lover she is, Juliette couldn't leave the Bahamas without visiting the pig island!  It was full of them, all shapes and sizes, big and small! She was able to swim with them and feed them. That day, she also crossed paths with iguanas and swam with sharks (albeit small nurse sharks, which have no teeth). Juliette and her mother also took advantage of their stay in Bahamas to discover downtown Nassau, where they visited a pirate museum and went shopping.

Upon their return, her mother told us: "We came back tired, but extremely happy! It is the first time that illness brings something positive into our lives. We'll be forever grateful to Juliette's doctor for seeing her courage and referring her to the Foundation. We had an unforgettable week! "

We'd like to thank our partners Atlantis Resort, WestJet, TuGo, Sony Canada Charitable Foundation, and everyone who made it possible to make Juliette's wish a reality. Thank you to Uniboard, who made this wish possible through the Adopt-A-Wish program.
